Sarah Chavez
Having grown up in a rural Portland area, Sarah loves small school teaching. She taught in Chiloquin and Pinehurst before joining the BFCS staff in 2011. Sarah knows that children thrive on a family environment and teaching that is tailored to each of them. “Kindergarteners are so much fun and so enthusiastic to learn. It is contagious!” explains Sarah. She values a team approach with parents, and like all BFCS teachers, knows that building relationships with kids and their families is the key to learning. “Parents are their kids’ first teachers, so it is critical for me to stay in communication with the family, support them, and encourage them.” She finds the school’s focus on positive discipline ideal. “If you know how the brain works, you will teach the total human being. That is our goal.” PREPARATION: Bachelors from Oregon Institute of Technology 2005, Masters from Southern Oregon University 2006. Oregon Licensed Teacher.
